The diamond industry is evolving, and I couldn’t be more excited to share why lab grown diamonds have become my passion and the cornerstone of my work. As someone deeply invested in creating meaningful jewellery, I want to take you through the world of lab grown diamonds, why they matter, and the kind of people embracing this new era of luxury.
Understanding Lab Grown Diamonds
Let’s start with the basics: lab grown diamonds are, without a doubt, real diamonds. They have the same physical, chemical and optical properties as mined diamonds, but their journey to your hands is vastly different.
These diamonds are grown in controlled environments using cutting-edge technology that mimics how natural diamonds form deep within the earth. The result? Stunning gemstones that are not only physically and chemically identical to their natural counterparts, but indistinguishable to the naked eye.
Lab diamonds also receive the same GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certification as natural diamonds. They are evaluated on the exact scale according to the 4 Cs: cut, clarity, colour and carat weight. This ensures their quality and value are assessed with the utmost precision and transparency.
Why We Focus on Lab Grown Over Natural Diamonds at The Cut
While we do offer natural diamonds for those who prefer them, The Cut Jewellery is proudly focused on lab grown diamonds because they align with modern values. Sustainability is key for us, and lab diamonds eliminate some concerns associated with mining. The industry is evolving rapidly, and I believe lab grown diamonds are the future. They are just as stunning, offering a lighter environmental footprint and a clearer conscience–all while being more affordable. What’s not to love?
Diamonds have always been part of my life. My uncle, Craig Blizzard, has been crafting exquisite jewellery for over 50 years, and my first job was in the jewellery industry before embarking on a 20-year journalism career. But it wasn’t until I attended a jewellery conference in London that I fell in love with lab grown diamonds. Seeing them under a microscope, I realised they are just as breathtaking as mined diamonds, yet more sustainable and modern. Lab grown diamonds reflect the future of luxury – beautiful, ethical and innovative.
Who is Buying Lab Grown Diamonds?
Our clientele are professionals – everyone from doctors, lawyers and businesspeople who come to us as they love our craftsmanship and simple don’t believe it’s necessary to spend $50,000 + to have a ring when they can find better ways to invest or utilise their money. Lab grown diamonds offer a diamond, custom set with a ring designed especially for them, made with incredible craftsmanship for a fraction of the cost.
Lab grown diamonds are reshaping the jewellery industry, blending beauty, sustainability and ethics in a way that is both modern and timeless.
