What was the original inspiration for starting your business, Night Babe?
I had always wanted to create a beauty brand, with a product that would complement my career as a makeup artist. When reflecting on my resources to get something to market during the pandemic, I was led to silk bedding. I grew up in my mother and grandmother’s soft furnishings studio here in Gippsland, where I funnily enough used to make pillowcases as a child. I never thought I would one day be taking a seat next to my mum professionally at a sewing table, but seeing a lack in the market for Australian made Mulberry silk pillowcases, with a focus on the benefits of silky self care that could elevate not only our sleep but also how we feel about ourselves, I knew that I had found my product – thus, Night Babe was born.

Why did you choose to create your range with mulberry silk over other options?
When creating our range, I knew we couldn’t compromise on quality. That’s why we use the highest quality 22 Momme 6A grade mulberry silk—it’s the gold standard for silk bedding. Unlike other materials, mulberry silk is natural, hypoallergenic, and incredibly durable. Choosing mulberry silk was a no-brainer for me. It embodies the luxury and care that Night Babe is all about.
You’ve just revealed a stunning brand transformation. Does this signal anything else new coming up for the brand?
In our fourth year of business I knew it was time to elevate the brand to be what I originally envisioned it as. At the beginning, like a lot of startups I wore all the hats and while I am very proud of what I achieved all by myself I knew it was time to bring in the professionals. I can’t wait to see where Night Babe heads in 2025 – I’m looking to grow our community of self care deserving, beauty loving women. I am excited to be collaborating with more Australian artists and introducing new product categories.
What is your nightly Night Babe ritual?
Just like my morning beauty routine, I like something that is efficient and rewarding. I cant go to bed without a double cleanse and a rich night time moisturiser. I have recently started using the Dr Dennis Gross LED mask and am loving using this bi-nightly. Something else I swear by since a friend put me onto it, is popping on my headphones and drifting off to sleep listening to a bi-lateral sleep playlist. As a busy solo parent I have found this to really calm my mind and body for a great night’s rest and of course this is all topped off by drifting off to sleep on a Night Babe Mulberry Silk Pillowcase.
