From Vineyard Saunas to Restorative Retreats – Your Spring Wellness Reset Starts at These Victorian Hotels

From floating sound baths and red-light meditation to vineyard saunas and Pilates for a purpose, Victoria’s hotels are embracing the season with a fresh take on wellness.

There is something about spring that naturally calls for a reset. The days stretch a little longer, we emerge from winter hibernation, and suddenly there is an urge to move more, get outside and create a little more space for ourselves.

This season, wellness is moving well beyond the traditional spa treatment, with a new wave of hotel experiences that feel more immersive, intentional and, importantly, enjoyable. Across Melbourne and regional Victoria, hotels are inviting us to float through sound baths, sweat it out in vineyard saunas, move for a meaningful cause and even spend a few quiet minutes beneath the glow of red light.

Whether you’re planning a weekend away or simply looking for a reason to carve out a few restorative hours closer to home, these are some of the wellness experiences on our radar this spring.

Slow Down Among the Vines with Lancemore

Perhaps the ultimate antidote to an overly scheduled weekend away, Lancemore Hotels is encouraging guests to embrace the luxury of doing less with The Slow Season, its wellness collaboration with Melbourne-based Orans Wellness.

Available at Lancemore Milawa in Victoria’s High Country and Lindenderry Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula, the experience introduces beautifully designed outdoor saunas to two of Victoria’s most picturesque wine regions. Crafted by Orans Wellness, the saunas combine carbonised walnut finishes, premium cedar interiors and considered architectural detailing, creating an inviting space to unwind, reconnect with nature and embrace the restorative ritual of heat therapy.

Both properties offer an idyllic setting for a slower style of travel, where wellness extends well beyond the sauna. At Milawa, days unfold against a backdrop of rolling vineyards, with the region’s celebrated wineries, artisan producers and exceptional dining experiences waiting to be explored. Meanwhile, Lindenderry Red Hill offers a peaceful retreat among the gardens and vineyards of the Mornington Peninsula, where guests can enjoy long lunches, leisurely walks and the simple pleasure of spending time outdoors.

Whether it’s a sunrise sauna overlooking the vineyards, an afternoon exploring the surrounding countryside or simply an opportunity to disconnect from the demands of everyday life, The Slow Season is an invitation to travel with less agenda and more presence.

The Orans saunas are available at Lancemore Milawa until October 8th and Lindenderry Red Hill until October 31st, with complimentary access for guests who book directly with Lancemore Hotels.

A Calendar of Restorative Rituals at 1 Hotel Melbourne

Since opening on the banks of the Yarra, 1 Hotel Melbourne has made wellness a fundamental part of the experience rather than an optional extra. This October, its calendar takes that philosophy even further, with a series of rituals and events designed around rest, reflection and reconnection.

At Bamford Wellness Spa, Red Light Meditation on the 6th and 27th October combines guided meditation through silent headphones with the softly illuminated surrounds of the Woodlands Lounge. The 30-minute evening ritual is deliberately gentle: an opportunity to quieten the mind, settle the nervous system and ease into the evening.

For something a little more immersive, the hotel’s Floating Sound Bath on October 13th transforms its indoor pool into a candlelit space dedicated entirely to rest. Guests can float on lounges in the water or settle onto a poolside day bed while sound frequencies and vibrations fill the space, before finishing the experience with a sleep tonic. If ever there were an acceptable reason to do absolutely nothing for an hour, this may be it.

The following evening, Ripples of Intention brings a quieter ritual to the hotel lobby. Guests are invited to write a hope, intention or reflection onto dissolvable rice paper before placing it into water, which is later used to nourish trees throughout the property — a small but lovely expression of 1 Hotel’s connection between personal wellbeing and the natural world.

There are also personalised horoscope readings at Crane Bar on the 15th October and, for those who prefer their wellness a little hotter, an Aufguss sauna ritual with Naomi Gregory on October 12th. The traditional sauna experience brings together essential oils, music, heat and choreographed towel movements to circulate aromatic steam through the room.

And you don’t need to stay overnight to make use of the hotel’s facilities. The Bamford Wellness Spa Day Pass, available daily for $99, offers three hours of access to the Field House gym, hydrothermal facilities and Bamford Wellness Spa Lounge, alongside a choice of premium wellness experience. It’s an appealing option for anyone craving the feeling of checking into a wellness retreat without actually leaving Melbourne.

Retreat with Intention at Lon

Perched among the rolling farmland of Point Lonsdale, Lon Retreat has long been the kind of place that makes switching off feel almost instinctive. This spring, the coastal retreat is taking that philosophy a step further with a series of personalised Wellness Retreats, designed around what guests actually want to get out of their time away.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, guests choose from five different focuses – Stress & Burnout Recovery, Sleep & Rest, Detox & Revival, Digital Cleanse, or Elevate & Thrive – before the Lon team curates the two-night stay around that intention. Available for solo travellers or couples, the experience includes all meals, a 15-minute individual wellness consultation and foot soak, a 90-minute treatment at Lon Spa, dedicated meditations and reflections, tailored teas and bath rituals, and unlimited access to Lon’s heated mineral pool and contrast therapy spaces. Even the arrival and departure gifts are selected according to your chosen focus.

It’s the Digital Cleanse that feels particularly needed. Guests can choose to surrender their phone and go without Wi-Fi, creating rare permission to properly disconnect rather than simply moving the endless scroll to a more beautiful location. For those wanting to go deeper, private yoga, sound baths and meditation, steam sessions and mineral baths can also be added to the stay.

Packages start from $1,990 for a solo two-night retreat or $2,950 for couples, with the option to extend. More than simply a spa weekend, Lon’s approach feels like a return to what a retreat is supposed to offer: enough time and space to work out what you need, and then actually give yourself some of it.

Pilates With a Purpose at Dorsett Melbourne

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Dorsett Melbourne is taking wellness beyond the hotel stay through Pilates for a Purpose, a month-long partnership with Melbourne’s Wildsoul Wellness supporting the Think Pink Foundation.

On Saturday 3 and Saturday 17 October, Wildsoul instructors will host 45-minute mat Pilates sessions at the hotel, combining full-body movement with breathwork and a guided stretch. Classes are open to hotel guests and the wider Melbourne community by donation, with all funds raised supporting Think Pink and the free services it provides to people affected by breast cancer and their families.

The experience doesn’t end with the final stretch, either. Participants receive complimentary day access to Dorsett Melbourne’s wellness facilities, including its heated indoor pool, spa, sauna and steam room – making a Saturday morning Pilates class a very good excuse to turn the rest of the morning into some dedicated downtime.

Throughout October, hotel guests can also borrow Wildsoul yoga mats by donation, bringing the collaboration into their stay. It’s a thoughtful extension of Dorsett’s existing approach to wellbeing: despite sitting in the middle of Melbourne’s CBD, two dedicated wellness floors give the hotel a distinctly resort-like quality. Book by donation here.

A Spring Escape for the Senses at Lake House Daylesford

Few places capture the art of slowing down quite like Lake House Daylesford. Set among six acres of country gardens on the shores of Lake Daylesford, the celebrated hotel, restaurant and spa is embracing the new season with Spring Cocoon, a two-night midweek escape bringing together restorative spa rituals, exceptional regional dining and time spent immersed in nature.

The experience includes two nights’ accommodation, daily breakfast and a multi-course dinner at the hotel’s acclaimed two-hatted restaurant, where seasonal menus celebrate produce from its own regenerative Dairy Flat Farm and some of Australia’s finest growers. At The Spa, guests can surrender to a pure mineral water soak, with a $200 treatment credit per room to put towards therapeutic massage or signature treatments incorporating botanicals grown at the farm.

For those who feel like venturing beyond the spa, the package also includes a guided visit to Dairy Flat Farm, offering a glimpse into the gardens, orchards and growing practices that inspire so much of the Lake House experience. Otherwise, days can be spent beside the lake, exploring Daylesford’s charming village or simply enjoying the luxury of having nowhere in particular to be.

Spring Cocoon is available Sunday to Thursday throughout spring, with two-night packages starting from $1,000 per person, twin share.

This spring, perhaps the reset doesn’t need to be particularly complicated. A morning of movement, an afternoon in the sauna, an hour floating quietly in a pool – or simply permission to put a little less on the itinerary. Sometimes, the most restorative thing we can do is create the space to slow down enough to notice the season changing around us.
