Dance is as much about strength and artistry as it is about presence – the ability to stay grounded, fluid, and in tune with both body and mind. For Wareya Anuyahong, a rising talent within the Sydney Dance Company community, it’s a daily practice of dedication, discipline, and self-connection.
As Sydney Dance Company joins forces with EVERAU – a brand that champions craftsmanship, comfort, and creative self-expression – the alignment feels effortless. Both brands speak to the importance of authenticity and individuality, offering space for performers like Wareya to feel supported, not only on stage, but in life’s quieter moments in between.
In this interview, Wareya shares a glimpse into her life as a dancer: the wellness rituals that keep her balanced, and her favourite EVERAU pieces that help her transition from studio to downtime.

Dance demands so much of the body and mind. What wellness practices or rituals do you rely on to stay grounded, both in and out of the studio?
After performing I will generally ice parts of my body, which is essential in injury prevention, then if available I will have a shower and something to eat. Most importantly I will rehydrate my body and perhaps finish with a tea while watching a show on the couch to wind down.
The partnership between Sydney Dance Company and EVERAU feels like a natural fit, celebrating creativity, individuality, and comfort. How important is comfort – both physical and emotional – in your daily life as a professional dancer?
Keeping my feet in shape is so important, having comfortable and supportive shoes or slippers to put on is a must. Depending on the dancing during that day, icing my feet is sometimes necessary meaning having warm soft slippers to put on after is ideal! And why I love the partnership with EVERAU.
Personally, I am obsessed with the EVERAU Croft slides, with their soft, breathable sheepskin and relaxed style, they take me everywhere from the beach to daycare pickups. What are some of your favourite EVERAU styles, and how do you incorporate them into your routine, whether you’re heading to rehearsal, winding down after a performance, or just enjoying a day off?
My favourite EVERAU style would have to be the black Croft slide slipper, these are so incredibly comfortable and easy to slip on and off. I wear them in and outside of the house and to the studio every day as they are so supportive and comfy which I so important being on my feet all day. The slides in black also pair with all outfits!
Both EVERAU and Sydney Dance Company champion authenticity and self-expression. How do you stay connected to your true self –Â both on stage and in the everyday moments in between?
Every day, we take technique and conditioning classes and participate in workshops, lectures, and choreographic developments. We learn from PPY teaching staff as well as industry specialists, choreographers, and artists, as part of my rigorous daily commitment which helps with fostering creativity, technical improvement, and self-expression to help me stay connected to myself.
